2018 News – 16th, 17th and 19th March
Again the favourites Stuie and Camille French with their son Sonny will be returning for the Saturday and Sunday.
Peter Pratt from Illabo NSW will be appearing for the first time at Downunder Country, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Peter has been song writing and performing professionally since 2001 when he graduated from the CMAA College of Country Music. He has won numerous awards, and has been a finalist three times in the “Golden Guitar – Country Music Awards of Australia” in 2005, 2007 and 2008.
He has also had two top hits on the Australian Country Top 30 Charts.
Graeme Hugo is also returning. This year (2018) in Tamworth he was inducted into the Australian Country Music Hall of Fame. Graeme’s experience and knowledge has been a great benefit to us all at Downunder Country since first appearing in 2016.
Our all time favourite compere, Bill Rowley, is back again to wow the crowds with his humour and his Johnny Cash style singing. Kevin and Dehlia Brown from Queensland will also be returning with their “Rick & Thel Carey” sound, and also part of the Downunder Country backing band, which will once again be run by our Music Co-ordinator, Steve Hill, from Bunbury. Terry Bennetts is also back to perform and is part of the backing band. He also won in 2018, 2 Brumby Awards for Best Instrumental and Best Instrumental Song Writing for Turquoise Bay off his Salt of the Earth Album.
Kate Hindle has performed at every Downunder Country since we started in 2011, and we have watched her mature with her voice and songwriting and musical knowledge. Her new Album “Ready for the Ride” was released this week in Tamworth. She is back once again.
This year we are featuring some new local artists, along with some regular favourites.
There will be line dancing once again with Doug and Audrey, and Old Time Dancing with your hosts, David and Therese “Campfire Country”.
Walk-up artists can register on the whiteboard which is available on Friday 16th.
Bush Poets this year will be co-ordinated by Peter Nettleton, who performed brilliantly last year at the Bush Poets Breakfast.
We thank Ron Evans for his 7 years of co-ordinating and being part of our Bush Poets show.
Once again we thank all our wonderful helpers and friends for all their efforts in making this weekend successful. Special thanks to Coleen and Ed Russell (Ag. Society), who co-ordinate the gate and caravan parking, and who make the Showgrounds very presentable.
BYO low back chairs, and food vendors will be available all weekend.
